Getting baby pastel tmw..feed ques

kirokiro Oct 18, 2007 09:58 AM

Hi all,

will be getting my baby pastel tomorrow..imported in from states...I'm in asia. The baby is abt 2 months, so should I be feeding pinkie mice or hoppers? another question is should I feed live or pre-killed?

I have a little blue sacrificial victim (slightly older than a hopper, smallest I found at my local pet shop)on stand-by now.... I also understand that balls imprinted on mice would not take rats...and vice versa, correct me if I am wrong...anyone try rotating between rat and mice?

Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

I think my little girl is more the exception than the rule, but she'll pound down a few mice one week and a rat the next week no problem... I personally don't see a huge problem with feeding live, but I feed all of my snakes frozen/thawed out of convenience (they don't need to be fed, can be kept in the freezer, etc...).
Just my $.02

If she is 2 months old then you should be able to feed her small adult mice... or rat pups. Hoppers will probably be too small...

Let someone else use your "hopper" on stand-by! She's going to need some acclimation time, before you attempt to feed! And if she's 2 months old, like another poster stated, she should be eating small adults anyhow! Good Luck!

Okie dokie, pls kindly advise how long is the usual acclimation period for an imported CB ball baby. So at least I wont start freaking out when ball not eating. I know I should leave him alone for about a week before attempting feeding? pls correct me if I am wrong. Guess by the time he acclimated, the hopper would be a sub adult anyway....hee
