Can someone ever have enough BRB's?

BRB_Russ Oct 18, 2007 10:59 AM

damn, ive been trying to hold back and throttle the size of my reptile collection, which now boasts about 10 snakes, 5 leopard geckos and 12 or so baby bearded dragons (dragons are to be sold) but i keep looking at all these pictures of baby BRB's and i cant help but want another! I only have 1 brb and 1 CRB but i keep thinking to myself i need another . . perhaps ill try to scale down the colelction by getting rid of my hognoses and my kingsnake . . .

gah, i need a bigger house.

Let's see.....

Including the 7 het hypo babies I have 72 "named" BRB's,

1.1 of the het hypos are involved in a trade/purchase for 1.5 other BRB's

2.0 of the het hypos will eventually go up for sale.

1.2 holdbacks from this years production

When all that's done, I'll be at 77 BRB's and I still want more!!!

So, can you ever have enough BRB's - I'm the wrong person to ask!!

Russ,
...If you ever get enough BRBs then you have 8 other subspecies of Rainbow Boas to start collecting. I tell you it is like we are crazy or something!

Guys,

My old stomping grounds. I went to F.I.T. in Melbourne,
really liked it down there. I found one of my favorite pet
snakes of all time on campus there, a huge yellow rat snake. It tried to take my head off when I caught it, but within an hour it was tame.

Hey, I got my BS in Computer Engineering. Really small world!
I'm sure things have changed since I was there in the mid 80's,
though. Probably a lot nicer now.

Good luck with your studies!

Ed,
....I lived in Titusville from 1957 till 1972. That area was a great place for snake hunting back then. At certain times of the year we specialized hunting Cornsnakes and Yellow Ratsnakes around deserted and little used agricultural buildings and in the Australian Pines that bordered orange groves and overgrew abandoned homesites. There were several days that we caught over 10 adult Yellow Rats and/or over 5 Corns. Yellow Ratsnakes were the first snakes we captive bred.

Hey Jeff,

Wow, that's a lot of snakes to find in one day. I enjoyed living
down there, I remember finding corn snakes, swamp snakes, ringnecks, etc. And when I lived in the W. Palm Beach area it wasn't uncommon to find gopher tortoises. I probably would still
be in Florida if the shuttle explosion hadn't created a job vaccuum down there when I graduated. Not sure why it never occurred to me to try breeding, I wish I had thought of it.
Would have been awesome to hatch some babies and let them go and/or sell them. Do you still have any rat snakes?

Do you breed the Surinames, or just the Rainbows?

Just curious.

Ed,
....My Surinams seemed to have engaged in lots of recreational sex this year. Two big females are now eating heavily and not acting gravid.
