BRB Racks

manog Oct 18, 2007 12:02 PM

Thinking about getting into BRB- done a lot of research but want to know if any of you have made your own racks for your adult boas- what size tubs are you using?

Thanks in advance!

I've made racks around the Iris CB110 tub. Have not housed any of my BRB's in them yet but will in the future.

Thanks for the quick reply!! Roughly, what are the dimmensions on those tubs? Just wonderng if there are rubbermaids or sterilites that are similiar?

Well, I picked out the Iris CB110 because they are larger. I forget the actual tub dimensions but the rack slot openings are 40" deep x 20 1/4" wide x 6 1/4" high

There is some side to side and front to back "extra" and of course the floor area is less I did find these numbers in my plans, I think it's the floor area of the tub

16.75*35.5/144 = 4.14 square feet

Thanks for asking this as I will soon have around 20 BRB's (all 06 and 07 animals), and I will need to build some type of housing for them.

I currently have some cages, but for racks I have the ones that use rubbermaid sweater and/or blanket boxes. I figure this allows me some flexibilty, but will need something for larger animals.

I would agree with Dave on tub size is important, and would not go smaller than the ones he is using.

I will house all of my males in the tubs and have my females in the boaphiles. I figure I can get the 4 x 2 foot townhouses that house 2-2 x 2 homes for females and open up the divider during breeding season allowing him access to whoever has the best pheremones and all my male bci I would like to keep in a tub also and females in their own 4 x 2 once they grow out of a CB 110. 20 brb's damn I'll race you to make a hypo lol

IMO Tubs are fine for raising up and even keeping adult males and non breeding (or not breeding "this year" females. If the female is breeding she should NOT be kept in a tub. I can't see the earth moving underneath all the time as you pull the tub in and out as bing good for the babies.
