Ishtar baby's eye..sniff

kirokiro Oct 18, 2007 06:58 PM

Woke up this mornin and found my baby girl's right eye sealed shut...so with my little finger I got it open gently...no discharge, and she seems fine. But her eye sorta close again.....took a cotton bud and with some gentle baby mineral oil, I coat a bit over her eye...notice some unshed skin on her head so I dab at those too, and they came right off.

Got home just now, and he eye is again shut, again cotton bud method with oila nd water and removed some unshed skin from her lid...it's late and guess she's sleepy... her eye is still sorta close, her left eye is wide open though...

Now she's sleeping. Should I worry?

It could be a number of things that might be the problem. if it persists I would take it to the vets.

WhatUVB light are you using on the cage? Some of them have been causing eye problems...

using reptisun 5% UVb, but its lowered to within 6 inches from bedding...her other eye is fine, just that one eye.....when I tease..hee...she will pop the other eye open, but that eye does seemed to have light discharge ...she is sheddingright now. No noisy breathing, no discharge from the other eye or nostrils.....eating (not a big eater....) but growing. Should I raise the UVB tube?

The other baby is using same tube with no problem and he's a voracious eater, and growing fast...he's male tho..

I would raise it. The Reptisun 5.0 provides useful UVB to 12" so I'd raise it until it was 12" from the substrate. Then provide a raised basking spot where she can get a little closer.

I just raised up the UVB light last night so hope all will be fine......Thanks for kind advice. My baby boy's shedding up a storm.....wonder how to induce shed in my large male...heh heh heh...I weighed him at 500 grams for 22 inches dragon, was told that was a good weight.
