Ive had 2 suriname red tails for about 3 weeks now, its a stacking cage with the male (5'4) on the bottom and the female (7'6) on the top and the male never goes into his water dish which isnt an issue but the female has was in her water dish soaking for bout 11 days straight without getting out ( she doesnt have mites ) after that she shed and ate which left her outside the water for 3 dyas or so and now she is right back into her water bowl and actually took the rat in the her bowl when she was eating it.

Is this normal behaviour? i mean i knew that they liked to soak but i figured not this much, the temps are all fine not to hot not to cold. Does anyone have a reason why she wont leave her bowl?

any help would be greatly appreciated

get her a hide box for a while until she gets comfortable. Oh, and get a smaller water dish too. You want it to be big enough so that she can't turn it over, but small enough to where she won't be tempted to hide in it.
