My Cherry County pair

Guttersnacks Oct 19, 2007 10:13 AM

Just got these guys, they're only a few weeks old. I'm not able to do the fancy photo work you guys do, but enjoy anyway! Top 2 is the female, bottom is the male. They both have a lime green, cream color to them. Will that grow out?

Well, you got the little rats to hold still for a second! Nice pics and superb little pales too!
I see the lime green effect on mine also and some will remain greenish, othes will acquire a very light dusting of tipping as adults. I suspect yours will remain very clean.
Keep a photo record of them over the years, it's fun to review the pics and compare after 4-7 years have passed.
Thanx for sharing the pics.....Jeff

It's great to see some participation with NA stuff! Beautiful snakes, too! They look like they originate from a familiar line produced by a friend of mine. If so, you can count on them being top-notch animals!

Many bloodlines of pales (and most NA milks) develop what we call "newsprinting" in the light bands as they age. The degree of newsprinting varies from light (almost non-existant) to heavy. The ground-color of the light bands typically remains, though. The result of a white-banded hatchling may be a white or gray adult... both of which are attractive in their own right.

I think that pair look like an awesome pick up on your part. I see a hint of green too. Interesting.
You know they look to me like they will keep their whiteness as the grow older. I don't see any tipping down their flanks at all. The male looks like it could yellow as it ages. I like those yellow Pales.
I bet the saddles change color, from dark red to a red/orange.
Nice Pales.

South Dakota, male. This males white should yellow as it ages, and the red saddles should lighten only slightly.

Thanx for the comments so far! This new venture I decided to take on already sounds like it was an excellent decision I like keeping time dated photos of my snakes, so you can be sure to look out for more 6 months down the road, or whenever I start to see any changes going on.

So far, all they've had are rat tails to eat, well, the soft tips anyway, and I just discovered one of them regurg'd it, so I have a live fence lizard on hand for scenting pinks. I'm about to try that right after I hit [POST MESSAGE]

Wish me luck!
