Help Identifing An Egg!

sheeleyj Oct 19, 2007 09:26 PM

I recently purchased some Crested and Leopard Geckos. The guy I bought them from gave me an egg that he said he was unsure of what it was. Im sure it is a reptile egg of some sort. The egg is 1.5" long and 1 " wide. It looks like a little chicken egg, but is kinda leathery. The egg when candled, is showing veins but not far along to really identify what it is. I know that it is to big to be a crested or leopard gecko or even a chameleon egg. Although it would be pretty neat to not no what it is until it hatches, I'd like to be able to know what temp it needs to be incubated at and to know what to expect and plan for. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A photo with a coin beside the egg might help someone figure out what it is. Maybe, maybe not. I would say that 80 - 83 degrees (F) would be a fairly safe temperature that can cover a broad range of eggs.

I wish you well!

Yep, that looks like a reptile egg; one that's bigger than a quarter.

Don't you just love a smarty? Ha! Ha!

Seriously though, I have no clue, but I'm not an egg-spert, either. Hang in there, it may take awhile but somebody may have some idea of what it is.

Take care!
