Eastern Blackneck Garters now protected?

sschind Oct 19, 2007 11:10 PM

I was told by someone at a local swap that the Eastern Blackneck Garter (Thamnophis cyrtopsis ocellatus) was recently put on the protected list. He did not say which list, and he did not specify who had given him the information. I do not live in Texas if that has any bearing on the matter.

Has anyone heard any information of the sort.

Thanks

Steve

I check my states web site for that kind of information, most states have a government web site, with a section of laws, and with in that should be a list of animals that are protected in your state and the ones that are federally protected. Never trust heresay at a reptile show, ever play the telephone game in grade school? Also sometimes that info is will be on your states Department of Natural Resources web site or State Department of Fish and Game, or Wildlife, depending on what your state calls it. Hope that helps.
