How old does a cham need to be before you put them in a 2x2x4 wire screen mesh cage? and what is good to keep them in before that.
Thanks Tony

this aint cham paradise but heres my 2 cents. when they are about a year old a 2x2x4 size cage would be nice for them. when they are too small catching food is a problem in big cages unless you cup feed.

i disagree about a year ... depending on how quickly they grow, between 7-9 months of age should be ok for that size of cage

hope this helps

Tony-

What chameleon are we talking about? Assuming its a Veiled or Panther, screen cages are a MUST after 3 months. I only use an aquarium for my pygmy group and the aquarium is acrylic not glass. I have kept 3 month old chameleons in 2x2x3 and 2x2x4 cages. The key is food, can they catch there food, if so a 2x2x4 will be fine. I have many different size all screen cages, the smaller chameleons in the smaller cages and larger in large cages. I use 2x2x4 for my pardalis males after 6 months of age if not sooner. There really is no set cage size for babies like there is for adults, just make sure the cage is all screen and not to big where the chameleon can not catch its food. Hope this helps!
