Trimming claws?

rockofpa Oct 21, 2007 10:37 AM

Well I usually don't trim my BD's claws they pretty much do it them selves in my enclosure, but now my wife is getting use to them and wanting to hold them but whenever shes done holding them she's covered in cuts. I bought a pair of trimmers from PAWS, but there picture shows that you cut the nail all the way to pretty much thier digits (fingers), that doesn't seem right to me nor do I want to cut them that close. Anyone have some pics of where they cut theres or some advise on how to stop the bleeding? Any help is appreciated.

Good picture. Yea I just trim the tip off and then they won't cut you anymore. Put some slate tile pieces in your enclosure and they won't have such a point. I generally only have to trim my adults after brumation, otherwise they seem to wear on my slate basking spots and ramp.
