As I mentioned, when we went to the zoo, part of the reason we went was that you can touch one of the chelonians they have on exhibit there, "Big Al", the Aldabra Tortoise.
Well, this past Friday, my brother's girlfriend invited two of her nieces, sisters, aged about 6 and 7 (both in the one photo of Big Al that I posated), my brother, and me to her place to watch a movie. (The movie was Pride and Prejudice; my brother's girlfriend wanted me to be educated in the type of movie women and even girls get into.)
Well, the older niece, remembering her encounter with Big Al so well, and knowing I like turtles & such, made me a little painting. When she was making the painting, she said she could feel what it felt like to touch his shell.
Honestly, I love the painting. It's great that kids can take an interest in chelonians and be so friendly with an "older guy"
the same interest
BTW, I've been told Big Al has a girlfriend, but she is not nearly as sociable.
