"Sulfur" Florida king juvenile

FoxTurtle Oct 21, 2007 04:25 PM

Just picked up this little female from a friend. She's a Hillsborough County locality snake, descended from kings collected near Tampa. She was one of the less spectacular looking ones in her clutch, but still a nice looking animal. If I remember right, she hatched out in July this year.

Pictured here next to an F1 Hillsborough County juvenile female, hatched from recently collected, average looking parents. Both snakes are about the same size, though the darker one is a couple months younger.

She should grow up to look similar to this, her future breeding partner from the same line. Planning for 2009...

Those are fantastic snakes. You are very lucky to acquire them.

I think the best looking normal phase of Florida king ever. Of course there is nothing "normal" about it. But what I meant is a "het for nothing Florida king". WOW! Thats all I got to say.

P.S.
Why aren't there a hundred posts after this yet? I think people are shell shocked and drooling on their keyboard.

I agree, since the first time I saw a sulfur, they've been stuck in my mind as the best "normal" Florida kings. Some really wild/aberrant yellow kings have come out of this line. There's a lot of potential here... not only to produce better looking normal Floridana, but to improve upon/add color to the various Floridana morphs.

A few of us have been saying this for a few years now. I think Sulfur is the best "clean up gene" a breeder could hope for
