goregrind Oct 21, 2007 07:22 PM

i bought a butter corn from my local petshop for 50 bucks. i knew it was a picky feeder but i was hoping that i could get it to eat. i tried feeding once a week, almost exactly 1 month after i took it home i found it belly up.

just when i decide to force feed it dies

bummer. i just found my last baby garter snake from this year dead because i am an idiot and accidentally squished him when he tried to escape while i closed the lid on his rubbermaid container. no fun losing animals, at least in your situation you didn't just make a stupid mistake...

even then it may not have helped.

I'm pretty new to owning reptiles (not counting my childhood days) but where I intern we had an Eastern Milk hatching that refused to eat for a pretty long time period and it started to look pretty thin. I believe it lost about 1/3 it's mass since arriving. We began force feeding and it actually got almost back up to full weight and looked really good. It was acting and looked perfectly healthy and then one morning it was dead. As Kurt Vonnegut would say, "so it goes."
