corn attacked....

drako32186 Aug 22, 2003 10:41 PM

My corn was attacked by my spotted python tonight. I don't know how she escaped (the python) but I came home and she was in my corn cage constricting my newest corn. So, what do I do for the little corn? I got it off and I can't see any marks on it, but I really really don't want it to die. It's still moving around and stuff though, but it doesn't want me to hold it, understandably..... is there anything I can do for the little guy to help it? I think it'll be okay, but I just feel bad for it.

thanks

that stinks! i would just leave it alone and let it rebound from the stress it went through. do you have any pics (for size comparison) of your python vs. cornsnakes??

I don't have a pic in comparison but she's really not that much bigger than the hatchling, she's slightly bigger around though. I'll bet she's just a slight but longer if longer at all....

Exceedingly odd that your python not only escaped its (presumably) secure cage, but ALSO entered another secure cage to attack another snake.
It sounds to me like it's either holding a grudge (), OR someone else (little brother/stupid roommate) hand a hand in this.
You may want to investigate further.

...and I think to myself, "What a wonderful world."

My brother claims that he didn't put them together...and other than that I have no one living here. I know how she got into the corn cage because there's one place on the lid that wasn't secure and was conveniently broken yesterday morning by a cat. So I know she musy've gotten in there (it's secure now by the way). I just can't figure out how she got out of her cage.

I cant believe your corn is alive.Im also leaning on the side you put them together. It escaped one enclosure and entered a second?Im not saying that it isnt impossible just unlikely.I onetime put a baby corn in with a milksnake for a few minutes to clean it's cage.I never did that again. My corn survived after what seemed like 10 minutes unwrapping them.If you said what happened is true your lucky to have both your snakes, and if you dont snakeproof your gonna loose them both real soon.Good Luck....Paul.

I'm getting the spotted a new cage this sunday at the reptile show...I need another anyway. Because I don't know how she got out of her cage. But I know how she got in the other and that's fixed now. I konw that I didn't put them together....I just had a mite infestation in the corn cage so I wanted the spotted as far away from there as possible anyway. But her cage is on the end of a table and I guess she didn't want to go off the end so she went to the other end where the corn cage was. I dunno. But she's getting a new cage. I don't know how long she had the corn constricted when I got there. So I hope it'll be okay.

I had a childrens python in a divided neodesha cage with an african house snake a few years ago and the childrens somehow escaped to the house snakes side and devoured it!
