Incredible New Tub Rack

JohnKelly Oct 22, 2007 08:28 AM

I say incredible, only because I built it. A couple of weeks ago I was thinking about building a rack that would fit the VE 175 tub. I noticed that commercial racks limit visibility from the side, so I came up with an idea that addressed that problem. I posted this on another forum and people seemed to like the idea, so I thought I would pass it on.

I* also put some heavy duty swivel wheels on it to make it easily movable. Thanks for checking it out.

Thnx Joe, but it wasn't that hard to do. The shelves were all pre-cut pieces (24x72x3/4) and The Home Depot made the plywood cuts except for the viewing side which I cut myself with my circular saw. It only took about 4 hours for the whole project. Not too bad.

VERY nice! I built a drawer-pull-out half rack for my ve-175 tubs and wound up having to replace the 100lb "cheapo" drawer slides with more heavy duty ones.

Those tubs are great, but hard to build a good rack around. Yours looks great! Lets light in the side, great idea. The ledge looks like it'll help you avoid having to pull the bin completely out of the rack (since those things are awkward to handle alone).

Great work! My rack was on KS at one time, and is still on my cagemakers site if you haven't seen it. Yours looks like it'd hold heat much better... I just built mine with scrap 2x4, and cabinet style like yours would be much better.

Thanks Lauren, You're right, I can pull the tubs out almost 3/4 of the way and they stay supported. The water bowls sit on the ledge side and it makes it very easy to change them out.
