Breeding Questions...

Greenant Oct 22, 2007 12:40 PM

Hey guys, it's my first year trying to breed some boas! Can you guys give me a run through of what i should be doing. I have cooled the room for about two weeks now...the temp during the day varies from 82 - 84 and the night temp is about 75 -78 depending on how hot it was that day. i have the heat running from 8am to about 4pm. So far so good? when do i start to introduce the males. do i stop feeding as well? my snakes have still been on a feed mode..Should i also be cooling the room longer before introduction? Any info will help...thanks

Some people stop feeding the male 4 weeks before introduction, and the female 2 weeks before.

Don't feed them while they are together - every few weeks or so you can separate them for a few days to feed and let the food smell wear off (plus, give them a little break from each other).

There's no "set" rules for what to do when - some people have boas breed with no cooling at all, I've read tons of different ways to do it. My attempts didn't go well last year (had a female show all the signs, but didn't go), maybe better luck this year.

Good luck!
