Panther Cham. with puffy mucus eye.

darkbird3651 Oct 22, 2007 06:42 PM

I have an Amilobe Panther with the big eye syndrome, from what i was told it is just a cosmetic issue. I have had him in the same conditions for around 2 months now, but yesterday i noticed that one of his eyes had mucus covering his lens. I cleaned it off with a q-tip and have had to do it once more since then, it seems that it is bothering him cuz he keeps on messing with that eye and sinking it in and out fo his eye socket. Any suggestions on how to cure this, his cage is clean and water is replaced every 1-2 days, he is misted twice a day for water and humidity needs. Any suggestions would be great and thanks ahead of time.

Can you explain the big eye syndrome again? If this is a birth defect, then your explaination is understandable. If it is something that has happened after hatching, then it sounds like a problem in itself. Either way, malformed or big eyes are more prone to abrasions and infections. Depending on why the eye is bigger, the problem might be more discreat. I would take your pet to a herp veterinarian for a proper eye exam.
