Short answer. 3FT's are most pronounced in cobras and elapids, although it's now being shown to occur in colubrids as well. It's what makes elapids neurotoxic.

TJP,

I don't think he means three fingers of Padron or Guaro...You have personal experience with these, yeah?

TJP Oct 23, 2007 02:33 PM

LOL! Jeff, you have just as much 3 finger experience with Patron as I do! I'm looking at doing more field research in May on it's neurological effects, though. Hopefully, you'll be up to the task.
I'll pass on the Guaro, I'm not a fan of the ulceric symptoms I get from the toxin.....and that stuff is a toxin.

So it a very potent venom?

Sorry for my grammar i was in a hurry.

My old lady does not call it the shocker. She calls it the divorce... lol

"So it a very potent venom?"

Most have been known to be, but it's going to depend on the snake.
It's like any other toxin family, some snakes are much more potent than others. 3 FT's fall into a long chained branch of neurotoxins, but not all neurotoxins have 3 FT's......it's not too confusing. ha
