Help!! Heat cable stopped working

tmh7 Oct 22, 2007 11:18 PM

I have an animal plastics rack and my heat cable stopped working? Can I use 100 watt heat cable? It is a six tub rack.
Thanks in advance for your help.

What kind of thermostat are you using? If it's a Ranco or Johnson, it may have malfunctioned and gotten stuck in the off position, which would cut all power to the heat cable. Have you tried plugging it directly into the wall to see if it heats up that way?

I would call/e-mail AP -- they can send you a replacement cable. No idea if they would do it for free, but when I asked them about buying one separately before, they said it was only like $30.

I tried plugging just the cable in and it did nothing. I have emailed AP and hope to hear soon. Thanks for the info.

If they don't reply right away, call them. They should be able to Overnight it to you.

I called them this morning and they will get it shipped out today at no charge. I expected to have to pay for it and they told me no charge. They were very nice.

I have never had any problems with their rack systems, and they have always been helpful, and they provide a great product. I am glad to hear that they are equally helpful if you need something post-purchace.

Happy New Year,
