Heating and Setup help. PLEASE!

Ok, so I have had my leo for about a week now. He is around two years old and looks like he is in good health. I have him in a 20 gallon tank with 2 hides and a humid hut. The problem is that I just can't seem to get the heating right in the cage. At first I was just using a 75 watt basking bulb to keep him warm. I should mention that my apartment is like an oven ranging in the 80's the larger majority of the time. So when I use the lamp it is usually way too hot in his cage on both the hot and the cool side. Now I have a UTH on the hot side of the tank and am awaiting to see what is going to happen with that. So, my question is should I use the lamp with the UTH and just raise it higher or should I just get rid of it? Also should I keep the humid hut on the hot side? And what should the over all humidity be, I can't seem to get a definite answer.

You will not need the light. Leopard geckos prefer belly heat to an over head heat source. Use and placement of 2 hides rather than one is a great move. The gecko will select the hide they prefer.
I don't bother too much with humidity as when a humid hide is provided, the leopard will self regulate their requirements toward humidity.
Good Luck.

I would get ridd of the light comepletly. Keep the UTH on one end of the enclosure, that way the gecko has the option to choose what temperature it is comfortable at.

What sort of temps does you house have? low 80s makes a big difference from high 80s.

With high 80s temps, I wouldn't add supplemental heat.
