Yellow Belly?

phantompoo Oct 23, 2007 04:38 PM

His wc mother shows pretty obvious yellow belly markers. However, I'm not so sure about him. He is the only survivor of a clutch that was severely stressed during incubation.

I think its possible he may be a "low marker" yellow belly. The outdoor pics show this the best i think, while the flash on the indoor pics doesn't help

pardon the quality, this camera does not focus up close for some reason.

I think that he looks alot like a YB. Some pics look like alot more convincing that others.. Do you have any pics of the mom? I dont recall seeing any. I assume your plans are to breed him back to her?

Check these pics out and tell me what you think. I got this female from some kid whos brother had it for a long time and he was going to school or something? She was 1100grams when I got her and is 1400 now. I only paid $70 or so for her, he threw in a bunch of other stuff and it was $90 total.

I think she has some YB qualities...not as definative as the one you have though. I had other plans, but I am either going to get a breedable YB, or breed her myself this year and then breed a male back?

Time will tell, good luck with the male, I hope he proves out for you. This is the fun stuff.

Nothing to be sorry about. I tend to agree with you...too bad huh? Dont get me wrong, I would have taken a white snake in a heartbeat, but the Ivories are not my favs anyway. I might still try her out and see...cant hurt that much.

Thanks for the honest opinions!

I think your YB is alot more definative than the one I posted, however, theres only one way toknow for sure - right?

Good luck w/him!

He does have good blushing, and a pretty good line going down each side of his belly. It could be. Keep him, and breed him back to mom, and hope for an ivory. Heres a pic of an amir line yellow belly...

I would lean more towards no but you never know. Keep him and breed him to mom and hopefully get an Ivory. I produced some very low grade yellow bellies this year myself but luckily they still look very close to yellow bellies in all the characteristics.
