Moxie is still nibbling, not really chowing like he should, so I called the herp store where I got him to find out precisely what was in the "mixed greens" they'd been giving him...romaine and red leaf lettuce with a little fruit on top! Ugh. You'd think a herp store with a good reputation would know better. Anyway, I gave him a small leaf of romaine and he gobbled up most of it, by far the most he's eaten in one sitting. I know romaine is not the best for him, and I need to try to get him to eat all the healthier things I'm giving him. He has eaten some dandelion, collards, and daylily flowers, but I've also given him clover, kale, nasturtium (leaves & flowers), rose (leaves & flowers), geranium, hibiscus leaves, mallow, dandelion flowers, watercress, cilantro, spring mix, etc., etc., and I don't think he's really eaten any of it.
What I'm doing now is chopping the good stuff up pretty finely and mixing it with somewhat larger pieces of romaine. He's also outside part of the day, and I have seen him taking a little bite of plants now and then. So I'm hopeful, but is there any tried-and-true way to wean a tort off a less-than-desireable food?
BTW, he is going to a herp vet next week for a checkup.
As always, thanks for any advice,
