Hi all,

Was just wondering about color development in pastel. My pastel boy is just 2 mths, he has blushing on his side, and very small blushing on some areas of his back. My question is do pastels develop more pronounced blushing as they grow? Do they also get more yellow?...will the dirty gold coloration on their yellow pattern clear away or become darker?

What's your own experience with your pastel balls?

Normally they darken and brown out. Some brown worse than others. Your pastel will not get more blushing. It is best, when purchasing, to buy the brightest and most yellow one. They tend to brown less. Hope this helps...

I find that pastels get better and better looking from a hatchling until they are about 6 months old. At 6 months or so is the nicest they will ever be in my opinion.
After that, they tend to darken up. Your pastel wil not get any more blushing, they will yellow up as I mentioned, but the blushing you've got now is all you'll get.

Like others have said, no more blushing and eventually it will brown out. Fires supposedly get lighter with age instead of darker and a lot of people are replacing their pastels with them. I guess time will tell.
