I just bought two babies from a guy today for $25 each, and he said the parents were pastels. He did not have the parents there, as they are his daughters, but the babies did not look like what I imagine pastels to look like. I would think that they would be...well...pastel, I guess. Instead, these 5 week old babies, who are still in partial shed, are a BRIGHT yellow. Like the pictures of the Citrus Beardies that I have seen. Is this normal, will they stay like that, or will they change color? I will try to get pictures of them tomorrow, but I'm not sure if their color will show up. Most of the other siblings were normal color, but these guys just jumped out at me. And the guy says that BOTH the parents are pastel. Input, or pictures of Pastels wanted, please.

When they first came out they were going for 250-400 bucks. People start making up names for their babies that look similar and really drive down prices, a real shame. Take a look at www.dachiu.com they have some nice pics of hypo pastels. I went to their house and no doubt they are different then what others call hypo pastels. Sanfires the same. Clear nails, and they breed true. Meaning two hypo pastel hets bred together will give you a few with the clear nail trait, and look exactly like hypo pastels. At the Dachiu's you can just look in the bin and point out the hets from the true pastels showing the traits just by the pattern and color. Hets have a darker pattern, Hypo pastel babies showing the traits look more lavender. No black, no brown. Here is a pic of the nails of two true hypo pastels.
