Water Monitor & Outdoor Cage

Hello. My name is Lance, nice to meet you all. I live in Eastern Tennessee and was wandering about outdoor housing for a Water Monitor. I know that several months out of the year would be too cold, but does anyone know the "set conditions(ie temps)" for keeping water monitors outdoors? Thanks!

Hey nice to meet a fellow Lance! I don't keep water monitors, just argus and ackies, however most will agree that housing varanids outdoors in the US is a tricky deal. You will want to have a fully functional indoor section that is plenty large enough to house him in most of the year, and if you feel inclined, make an outdoor addition that can easily be partitioned off during the cold months. The idea with any monitor, is allowing them to be able to choose the conditions they need. Do some more research on their physical needs, and talk with successful salvator keepers for more insight on the subject. Cheers, Lance
