Hey there,
thinking of getting a ball python.
been doing a lot of reading.
I actually had a ball a few years ago...and loved her.
But the Marine Corps sent me to Japan, and she went with a nother herp friend of mine. Here is todays problem. I want a ball, and have been reading a ton on them....finding out i was doing some bad things (mainly feeding ONLY live mice) I notice there is some sausage like feeds out there Snake Steaks I think they were called. Is there any other types of these sausages out there? How are they as far as nutrition etc....and lastly....how hard are they to get your snake to take? That is the main concern I have.

My wife likes to hold snakes etc....but really hates the idea of feeding mice...so I am trying to overcome that with her. Any ideas???

What about frozen/thawed mice? They come on a little styrofoam tray, just like hamburger...

I had issues with feeding my snake live. I was the one who got to hold the darned thing in the carrier on my lap while my husband drove home. The only reason it got put in the snake cage was it was so stinky by the end of the trip from the store. The F/T is much neater & more like our perception of food.

But I have never seem any alternatives to rodents...
