about poop or lack there of.....

gilawop Aug 23, 2003 03:01 AM

This animal is a hatchling about 18 inches long. Eats like a champ....but there seems to be a problem...there is no sign of elimination. I have discontinued feeding. I'm afraid of a blockage. I have tried a warm soak... to no avail. If blockage is the problem then please someone help me out with the solution.
Thanx for your time

i got a new 18inch ball python yesterday, arrived after two days of courier which worried me,but it was fine,i could resist handling her the same day though!she was very friendly and tame and inquisitive and spent a long time just going round my body sniffing me with her tongue, anyways,in the cage there was a massive poop!like a small dogs poop!which surprised me lol!

...some BP's will eat 6, 8, or even more meals before they explode!! Seriously, when they finally deficate it's quite large, and soaking before the snake's ready won't work. When the snake's ready, usually right after a shed, it'll go, and the stool can be righteous!! Actual obstruction is QUITE rare, and CAN and often does lead to sudden death. So don't worry.

Don't worry. I went through the same thing when I first got my hatchling. She finally did poop - nothing overly exciting, just a small pile, but every one since then has been large.

Just keep feeding and it will come.
