sleepiing in water tray

oger6 Oct 25, 2007 10:48 AM

last night at about 10pm I checked up on my turtles outside and I found one of the girls sleeping, totally submerged underwater in the water tray. She was in there at like 6 when I left. It is extremely easy for them to get out. What do you think would make a turtle sleep like that?

The water was actually cold to the touch and the turtle seems absolutly fine as of this morning. I noticed this once before with another female of mine during the summer.

I don't think that it's unusual, necessarily...there are turtles here that spend a lot of time in their little pond, especially in the hottest part of the summer (presumably to stay cool), and at this time of year (probably because the water temperature doesn't fluctuate as much as air temps.)
