Sexing guesses on Leopards

TylerStewart Oct 25, 2007 12:40 PM

I've got these 2 leopards I'm having a hell of a time sexing... Any guesses? The lighter colored one is about 13-14" and the darker colored one is 8-9". Thanks!

First one male second one female.

My guess would be 2 boys but one has the plastron shape of a girl... interesting

I'm starting to think 2 boys also... The plastron shapes look male - female, but the tail length on the smaller one makes me think male.... Also, the under-shell-flatness on the bigger one, to me, leans more towards female (there's almost no concave at all, and I would think by 13-14", you'd see a concave). They're both confusing me.

I agree with Ed. Tail size would indicate they are both males (usually the best indicator). Try putting them in a tub and run warm water over them. Quite often this will stimulate a male to expose itself. If they expose themselves you would know they are males. If they don’t it doesn’t necessarily mean they are females.
