I just got a couple beautiful 07 females from Mike Bodner today.
Man, he produces some nice yellows! The father of the yellow leonis is the Logan male pictured on top of this forum.

They are very beautiful and your pictures are really nice.
What are you using for a background?

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the compliment.
The background is simply the top of a sterilite tub container.

Great looking kings. The photos are outstanding looking.
White tub lid, interesting. What do you use for light. There has to be more to it then just taking a photo on a tub lid.
They are both great shots of your animals. Good job.

Hi Dell,
It's really the camera that deserves the praise, not me. I've been using a Canon PowerShot Pro1 to take pictures, but I think what has made the difference for me is the light source, like you mentioned. I've moved away from relying on fluorescent light or even natural light, and instead I use a fill flash with a diffuser that is mounted on the top of the camera (Canon Speedlite 580EX). I dial down the flash to the negative numbers to make sure I don't overexpose the subject. This way I am able to get a pretty accurate representation of what a particular snake looks like in person.
There is a young lady that posts on this forum by the name of Aubrey who takes superb photographs of her snakes. You should pick her brain a bit

Thanks Maria, funny, I've been thinking of getting a difuser.
Always working on trying to get better w/ this dam camera.

Thomas co. NE, l.t. multistrata.

Bighorn co. MT, l.t. multistrata.

Regarding diffusers, I have has success using plain white facial tissues gently wrapped around the flash unit and secured loosely with a piece of tape. Then through experimentation with different thicknesses of tissue, different shutter speeds, different f-stops, and different backgrounds, I have gotten some nice shots with my Sony DSC-H1 (Cybershot).
I got this tip from someone on this forum (sorry I can't recall who -- my "old-timer's disease is acting up), so I'm just passing it along. Have fun!
