Coral glow pastel

boxienuts Oct 25, 2007 06:25 PM

I like the looks of the coral glow pastel, and I would like to try to make one someday as time and money allow, I'm not interested in just buying one, where's the fun in that? not to mention I can't afford it, at least not still married Could someone please tell me what the genetics are? or is that a trade secret still? If it's a trade secret that's fine I understand, we all have to make a living, and unfortunely the rest of us poor shmucks had to get real jobs

I thought it was just a Carmel Albino and a Ghost/Hypo? Is there Pastel mixed in them as well? I saw one at the NARBC show for the first time in person, they are REALLY amazing.

Ralph Davis was talking about them on his blog talk radio show today. I think he said the banana is a sort of co-dom albino? I may be wrong but I think that is what he said. Anyways, he said that if he was working with the project, he would make a banana x pied and call it the banana split. I thought that was pretty cool.

Where can I listen to this blog talk radio show?

I totally agree with you about making your own stuff. It may take you 3-4 years longer, but I want thm to be mine.

I forget the Coral Glow. what makes it. I do know it's genetics are not secret. I believe the Coral Glow goes by another name as well from another breeder. I think the Coral Glow may be the same as the Bannana...? Maybe? Will Slough (sp?)bred the first Bananna if I recall.

This is only off the top of my head nand may be TOTALLY incorrect, but hey, its a starting point

zefdin Oct 25, 2007 07:40 PM

They are sweet, thats for sure...huh.

coldbloodaddict Oct 25, 2007 07:54 PM

The Coral Glow aka: Whitesmoke is it's own morph..
Coral Glow x Pastel = Coral Glow Pastel...

Caramel/Hypo = Caramel Glow

White Smoke, yes I have heard this name. I thought people have associated this as being similar/same as the Bannana? No? I know the Bannana guy says no...

joshhutto Oct 25, 2007 11:04 PM

well if you are marketing an animal as a "you have to buy from me" type of animal, of course you are going to say an animal that looks just like it as a hatchling and as an adult isn't the same thing.

According to NERD's book, its Banana x Pastel. In the book, the Coral Glow is listed as Coral Glow aka Whitesmoke, Banana Ball.
I guess all three are the same mutation.

Hope this helps,
Shelly

zefdin Oct 26, 2007 01:51 PM

Yup. I dont think they guy who owns the Banana(sp?)Ball wants to associate the Whitesmake snake as being similar/same as his... There is some conflict there I believe.

boxienuts Oct 26, 2007 04:46 PM

so starting from the bottom I would need a F-carmel, F-lavender, and M-albino. I have seen carmel but not sure what a lavender is? Make some carmel albinos and some lavender albinos then cross them to make a coral glow, then cross the coral glow to pastel to make the coral glow pastel. hmmm correct me if I am wrong about anything here, it will take 6 yrs. to produce coral glow? I'm sure something is wrong here.

Coral Glow is a dominant (or maybe co-dom) morph, not a combo... you have mail!

boxienuts Oct 26, 2007 05:56 PM

thanks for the clarification, I didn't realize that coral glow or whatever you call it was it's own morph, I guess I just ASSumed it was a combo by looking at it.
