jl283467 Oct 26, 2007 11:04 AM

What I really need help with and I cant seam to find any good info on is transporting chameleons cross country. I am moving from New Orleans to New Hampshire and I have among other herp's 4 Jackson chameleons. I need to know how to transport them the 1600 miles. it should take me about 2 days to drive. the problem is that it is starting to get cold and I am not sure the best way to keep them warm in the care and from stressing out. any help you might have or any site to visit would be amazing. thank you for your time, and have a great day.

I am still hoping to get some info on the transportaion of jackson chameleons i have found almost no info on the web. None of my many books have any good info either. i am leaving the New Orleans area in less then a week and i am starting to get my Chams ready for the journey to New England. i have bought heating pads and plastic reptile containers. but any advise would be great. thank you for any help.

I was able to speak with a reptile specialist about transporting Chams. i used small plastic transport containers with a piece of fake ivy taped to the lid. The container had a piece of paper towel in the bottom that i misted to water to keep humidity in the container up. I then placed these containers in a dark cardboard box with heat pack that kept the box at 75 degrees for the entire 1700-mile trip. It took me around 33 straight hours to drive from New Orleans to New Hampshire. I am very happy to say that everyone made it safely. I also transported two bearded dragons, 3 pacman frogs and a very large and angry pyxie frog that is still angry with me.
