Hey Everyone,
I haven’t been able to post in a while because school has been kickin’ my behind for the past few months. Anyway, I finally found a brief period of time to take and post a few pics of some of my holdbacks and standouts from this past year’s breeding season.
This first interesting female popped out of a normal x normal breeding (both are possible intergrades). She immediately stood out from the rest of the litter because of her clean pattern and the side stripes which almost go all the way down the side. Who knows if it’ll be genetic. But I do like her looks and she is HUGE. She was part of my last litter of the season, but when these lil babies dropped they were huge and bigger than some babies that were born a couple months earlier. Anyway, here are her pics.
Here’s a pretty good overall pic of her:
Here’s a dorsal shot of her:
Here’s a shot of her right side:
And here’s a shot of her left side:
Next, is a female poss. super hypo with a nice little reverse stripe. Her hypo parents both surprisingly turned out to be DH Sunglows. So she was a littermate to sunglows and possible super sunglows, some of which are posted below. Thus also making her 66% Poss. DH sunglow. She was the only baby with this reverse stripe thing going on, which is why I decided to hold her back. Plus I like her clean looks. We’ll see in a few years whether or not her reverse stripe will get passed on.
Next, is a male poss. super hypo. He is a sibling to the female above and the sunglows below. He has very clean color and pattern, and is also 66% poss. DH sunglow. I hope to prove him out as at least a super and if happens to also be DH sunglow, then woohoo!!!
Next, is one of my male sunglow holdbacks. This guy has some great, “almost red” saddle color. Excuse my subpar photo skills for washing out his true colors. I really hope he retains this color as he gets older. I’ve got some anery poss het snows girls that I’d love to pair up with this guy in a few years.
Next, is my male poss. super sunglow. Again, excuse my photo skills for totally washing out his color. He got some much white that it just bounced back the flash from my camera. He’s got a really clean look with very faint side medallions and some unconnecting saddles. Anyway, I really hope this guy proves out as a super.
Last but definitely not least is my female poss. super sunglow with a “paradox” condition going on. She was a very welcomed surprise in the litter. Note that this “paradox” poss super sunglow was a littermate to the male poss. super sunglow above, the sunglow above, and also the poss. super hypo pair above. This was the best most exciting and diverse litter I’ve ever had. And then this “paradox” was in the midst of all of them.
Well, for obvious reasons, I held on to this female. You should be able to see the small black spots coming thru on her sides.
She also has a multi-colored tongue and her eyes are different colors (one pink and the other has some black in there as well). I couldn’t get these features photographed, but I just figured I’d throw that in there just to reiterate how crazy this girl looks. I know the “paradox” thing has never been proven out yet. But if this girl just proves out as a super sunglow, then I’ll be blessed enough.
That’s about it for now. My holdback female sunglow (holdback only because she was the only female sunglow that popped out in the bunch) is in shed right now. So I’d figure I’d hold off on pics of her until she shed.
I guess we’re all off to yet another fun and exciting breeding season. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all enjoyed my pics.
All the best,
Jay
