i am wondering why just as of three days ago, our young boa is sort of stargazing. she just lays out in the open, on the ground and leans her head upwards against the back of the cage. she flicks, move fine and eats great. any ideas?

from my experience and from asking a similar question, especially young boas will tend to prop their heads up at the base of the cage - I've been told that in the wild they will do this at the base of a tree or something similar as a way of looking up for moving objects for possible food.
I had the misfortune of witnessing actual stargazing behavior about 2 or 3 yrs ago when I had small rack system overheat - the heat ended up causing neurological damage for one of the boas.. the boa was not able to crawl or move correctly, could not balance itself well, and it would at times arch it's body all the way backwards (the body was stretched upward and all the way back) like it was trying to look all the way behind itself.. I ended up putting that boa down and luckily have not seen this kind of behavior again.
hope this helps some.
