Do Rats make Corns inactive?

HerpLover95 Oct 26, 2007 08:40 PM

Hello everyone,
I was talking to a person from another forum on MSN and they said that when they fed rats to their corns, it made them "Lazy". This is something that I've never realy thought of, but it makes sense. Since rats are believed to have more nutrients than mice , could this mean it takes longer to digest them and take in all of these vitamins? I actually have noticed a decrease in activity and I've only been feeding rats for 2 weeks. Has anybody ever heard about this? If so, what's your opinion on it? Thanks!
~Tyler

My corn snakes are jsut as active on rats as they are on mice..then again I don't feed them mice often but I don't find they are unusually inactive. ALl my corns are cruising and active within 5-7 days of feeding. The younger ones are active more quickly though.

In the past when I switched baby corns from hopper mice to rat pinks/fuzzies, they still are just as active as far as I can tell.

Rats of the SAME size will not make your snakes any more inactive than mice will. It's when you feed them much LARGER meals of either that they will become more inactive!

OK Thanks! Just when I say they're starting not to come out as much they, both come out for the whole night! The rats that Im feeding now are a little bigger than what I was feeding before. Not much though. Again, thanks for the help.
