I read a bit down you have a cricket corral, can you post a picture of it . It sounds interesting and I'd like to make one for my beardes.
The picture below is the original prototype of the design of my new cages. The pictured cage is 5' long by 3.5' deep by 2' tall. I now have 3 in this size and 6 in the 4' x 3.5' version. On the front right is the "Cricket Corral". It is just a 2 and 1/2" by 3/4" composite board on its side. It sections off 1' deep by 2.5' long in a 5' cage. 2' long in a 4' cage. Then I cover all the sides with aluminum tape. This tape is 3" wide and is sold at Home Depot in the heating section as it is usually used on heating ductwork. It looks like aluminum foil and has a backing you peal off. The crickets cannot climb it. Occasionally they can jump out of it though, but their so dumb they walk around and usually end up back in it. So in the morning you find any crickets that may have been hiding during the day.
The cage substrate is about 2" of sand but the cricket corral uses non stick shelf liner.
Just have to give credit where credit is due though. I stole the idea from Rob and Vickie Dachiu. lol.
