Question for Randy Remington

flamed1 Oct 27, 2007 11:40 PM

The other day I was listening to blog talk radio, I over heard you mention a theory about albino breed to a lavender albino. Do you think that the lavender allele is on the same locus as the albino, if so do you think that the same could be said for the caramel albino? Can you elaborate your theory for me, Id appreciate it.

If this is posted in the wrong section feel free to put it in the right place.

It's caramel and regular albino that I don't know if they are alleles or not. I believe the other albinos have been proven not to be compatible now. But I've been wondering about caramel and regular albino for years and have yet to hear of anyone who has breed the homozygous animals together to prove it one way or the other.

Pied and clown are another one that I'd like to hear if anyone has crossed.

Neither are at all likely to be compatible so it's not surprising if no-one has tried it yet but both are ones that came up as questions to me due to some odd breedings reported years ago.

My bad I thought it was lav to albino. Well I recently purchased a Dbl het lav caramel male, and will be breeding him to a het or albino female next season, this season if the stars align just right.
Ill post if something comes out of it.
