tail problem

muppit666 Oct 28, 2007 10:30 AM

ok i went on holiday for 2 week and left my lizards in my friends hands who has lizards herself, when i came back my collareds tail had been chewed right to the bone by cricketts about a centemeter at the tip, my stupid friend put a full pack of cricketts in his cage as she couldnt come up to feed him for a couple of days.
anyway im taking him to the vets on tuesday (no opointments sooner) i am applying a wound healer on it. is there anything else i can do?
he is acting fine and eats mealworms but is now terreiffed of crickets (he runs and hides in his shelter).

Just make sure it's clean, Dab with povodone iodine solution 10% used for cuts/ wounds always a good thing to have on hand, thats the generic name the more expensive version is Betidine.

Or if you do not have that , I have dabbed it with peroxide (the kind for antiseptic purposes) let it fizz up and clean then put some antibiotic ointment on it.

Hope his tail is fine in a couple days ! :0) Let us know
