has this ever happened to anyone?

I had the scariest moment tonight...I got my amel. corn snake out and she was fine. She had pooped in her humid hide so I cleaned it out, and I fixed a tub with water to wash her off. I'd given her baths before with no problem, but I think the water this time was too warm (could hardly feel any warmth at all)...she swam around for less than a minute, then I got her out and handed her to my wife to hold while I finished cleaning her other hide. Then she went totally limp and I took her back, and she had no movement in her body at all, it truely was "as limp as a wet noodle." Me and my wife were scared to death, the only movement she made was slightly moving her head and upper body (about 1/6th of her length). Twice, she went totally limp on me and didn't move at all and I thought she was dead. Both times she started moving again after a couple of minutes, but only bare minimum to tell she was still alive. I held her awhile thinking she was about to die on me, but after about 30 mins. she started to move alittle more often. We put her up in her cage, and came back 30 mins later and she seem completely normal! I was scared to death that I had killed my baby, but I think she's fine now...has anyone ever seen this happen? Did she go into shock or something? One of the two times I truely thought she was dead, she roled over and layed limp with her mouth half open for like a min. Her body had no tension in it at all and felt like jello. Was it the bath, or possibly something else???

I would say it was probably the water temperature. Anything that feels warm to us, is too hot. Our hands are aprox. 90-95 degrees, so the water we put a snake in (no higher than 80 degrees) should feel cool to touch; if it feels warm to the touch, it's probably at least 100 degrees.

I think i remember you writing about somthing like this happening a while back??

It sounds to me like your snake had a seizure which i have NO experiance with...

Or it could have some Hognose blood in it and it's playing oppossum (joke of course)

...think she has any hognose blood in her! No, I haven't posted anything like this before, must of been someone else...I did a forum search before posting this to see if it had been asked before, and I couldn't find anything. I have never had a problem like that before, it scared me to death!

A couple of months back someone posted a very similar story... It must have been on one of the other forums...

That was the first time i have ever heard anything like that happening and I have never experianced that first hand.. Keep us posted and although i know chances are slim, please let us know if you ever find out what may have caused that.

maybe a chemical(or two) were in the water or bowl and the heat of the water made a gas that knocked your snake right out.

heat exhaustion?

water in the lungs?
