Question for Camlon Reptiles & Jaguars

Wallbanger26 Oct 29, 2007 07:20 AM

I hatched out a wierd looking ball this year. A few people said it looks like a classic jungle. I didn't see it (unless a Jaguar is now considered a classic jungle). I couldn't find anything it resembled. Then a few days ago I saw a picture in the back of "The Complete BAll Python" of a ball that Camlon Reptiles owns and he called it a Jaguar. My hatchling looks very, very similar to that. Does anyone know anything about the genetics of that ball python?

Thanks in advance,

Wayne

Wayne:

I was fortunate to hatch out two clutches of jags this year. The first clutch was of 5 females and all had that unique look to them. The second clutch produced two eggs a male and a female the male was a normal and the female was a beautiful jaguar. What's interesting is that both clutches were fathered by the same 100 % het pied bred to two different normal females.

I've talked to Debra and Diane at Camlon and a few others that have produced jaguars. The consenses seems to be that these beautiful snakes can not be re-produced. It may be caused by variations in incubation temperatures.

I can be reached at (408)981-6694 if you have any questions.

Love that belly pic and Jags in general are really nice looking.

I think Randy Remington produced a Jungle Ball that wasn't quite a Jag but it had many similarities to one. I believe Randy had said that his jungle had proved not to be genetic and that while incubating the eggs that this Jungle had come from, his incubator temperatures had become unstable at some point?

Interesting stuff...
