Hey Dave C. -Cage Dimensions?

manog Oct 29, 2007 10:59 AM

Hey Dave,

I have noticed on your site how awesome your snake rack/cages are. I am planning on building some similar to yours. I would have just emailed you but thought that others could benefit from this knowledge as well. What are the dimensions of the individual enclosures?

Thanks!!

Thank you for the kind words!!

I have several size enclosures. For breeding I have oak cages I built. Basic dims are 2' x 2' x 18". Those are connected externally via 4" pvc pipes with screw in plugs. This allows me to open up the tubes to connect cages together for breeding. The sections are "stacked" four high and two wide. I have pipe connections between all four vertical sectionas and also have lateral connections for each level. Actually going to change that this year since I have plenty of available males now. The vertical connestions will be for two sections only.

I also have several sizes of tub racks.

Built a couple of melamine ones to hold Iris CB110 tubs:

And in the baby closet, I have a couple of melamine racks to hold Sterilite boxes, 2 sweater or one blanket per level along with three Boaphile rhinoraxx shoebox racks:

For more baby storage, I built this combo workbench/showbox rack:

And the last one I built was a smaller three level sterilite sweater/blanket box rack for the Q-room. (could also put shoebox size tubs with a baord on top to secure the lids)

THANK YOU!!! You have such a nice set up there! I can only hope that someday i will have the room to do something like that. In the mean time i appreciate the info. Do you like the racks with the iris tubs better than the oak case for adults?

My room has a slanted cieling and its 16 by 16... *Thinks* If i can heat my room to a reasonable temperature i could keep about... as many as my parents let me... Plus my bathroom... I could keep a burm in there... My bathtub can be its water dish... Must not overuse imagination

Hmmmmm, a stairstepped set of stacking cages where the fronts are all in line verticaly but the lower cages are deeper than the higher ones. The stair stepping in the back to match the wall?

Bigger / heavier animals on the bottom, smaller ones on top. LOTSA thermostats though since the smaller ones might tend to need cooler temps then the bigger breeder ones?

never thougth of that one lol sounds intersting and sounds like ALOT of thermostats lol but that would only work for about 2 tiny tiny cage son top the slant ceiling comes out 38 inches at top and comes out abotu 4 foot into the room and i have about 4 foot from my stand so tanks arent on floor to the start of slant lol. then i have to work around the heater/AC vent thats why the comp desk is over that wide open and heats/cool room nicely. you will see once i get pics up its a mess in here lol

rainbowsrus Oct 29, 2007 03:57 PM

np, Actually I have not used the CB110's for BRB's yet (only BCI) but I do like my cages better.
