Can anyone tell me about the history of these snakes? Are they pure campbelli?
There are a fair amount of authentic hypo Pueblans on the market, but many have also been crossed into other subspecies(Hondurans,etc..)along with amels as well.
It pays to have a discerning eye, and really know what you're looking at.
I've also seen some advertised as "hypo Apricot" Pueblans, that were not "apricot" in the least(beige/white bands).
Just exercise some caution, and buy from some of the bigger, more "well known" breeders, as this would generally be a safer bet.

they originated from the now defunct "Southern Reptiles" facility. The Cullatas also originated quite a few other new morphs.
Personally I think they are a cross and got the hypo gene from the hondurans.
But I still love them.

Rainer,
Why do you think they've been crossed with hypo hondurans?
I think hypo campbelli are sweet.
I just bought a pair.

I'm with Rainer on this one. While there very well may be hypos that occurred naturally, I see guys at shows with hypo pueblans that they swear are not crosses, but they also have pueblan/hondo crosses on their table.
Some where, someone may have produced hypos on their own, but I think now there are a lot of crosses out there.

"The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, which ones pink?"
I used to work with hypo peublans and got my best male (pictured) from Bayou Reptiles (Rob Stevens). He told me that he bought a pair of very average peublans at a show, bred them and out popped a few hypos the next year. I also heard that Mark Bell produced some hypo peublans that same year.
I have no reason to believe that Rob's stuff aren't pure campbelli. Look at the picture of this male I had and tell me if you think its a cross.

Ditto for my male also. Big Easy guy.
