Color changes?

cknott1048 Oct 30, 2007 01:49 PM

Is it possible for a bp to change color?I am buing a large male bp from a pet store. When I brought him home from the store he was a cream grey color. I am buying him on a payment plan, and the store owner told me that I had to bring it back so I did, and now they are saying that I brought them the wrong snake. They said that he is not gray. All I did was take him from the store where he wasn't provided with heat, and had 2 other large cagemates in a 20 long tank.I put him in my tank where there is heat, and hides. Is the color change possible? He also ate 2 med rats while he was here...
Thanks,
Chris

The reason for having to bring him back, was that a coustomer had the full ammount for him. They thought it was a female.

I have several normals that are quite grey at times. They will usually lighten up after a shed or when they are gravid but it isn't year round thing. It wouldn't surprise me that a ball being without proper heat would have a different color then when he is comfortable but I keep my balls warm, lol.

I am tired of being called a liar. I am relinquishing all ties to the particular pet store. All I wanted was a large male for my birthday. It was supposed to be my present to myself, but I guess I was wrong.

Sorry I missed this post before - yes balls will have a tendency to change coloring - due to diet, stress, hormones, bad sheds, etc. I find that a lot of my rescues that have been kept poorly and particularly those found out wandering tend to come in with a ghostlike appearance - but with some TLC - they will return to "normal" coloring.

Here is a picture of one of my rescues found in a yard last year:

About 6 weeks later and a few good meals and a shed:

I'm not sure how much the pet shop is asking for the snake - but I'm assuming if you are making payments - then its probably more than the snake is worth - there are usually lots of big normal males that need homes in rescues check around your area.

Good luck!

I changed my mind about buying him. They want $99.99 for him, and there is a mite problem there.I will check into some rescues.
Thank you all.
