Racks for Sterilite 1956 (28qt) boxes?

Lee McMurtry Oct 30, 2007 02:00 PM

I'm tired of making melamine racks! Does anyone know if there is a company that makes commercial racks for Sterilite 28qt boxes? (I have a ton of these already for racks I've made in the past, and would like to continue to use them). I see that Repti-Racks does, but they have back heat, and I'm looking for belly heat. Anyone that has a lead, let me know!
Thanks.

I heard at one point the new Vision racks were going to be made with adjustable levels. I don't know if I heard that right and/or if it ever happened.

Currently keeping a small collection of various Gonyosoma. Both G. janseni and G. oxycephala.

Vision does make a rack for a Sterilite box but I am not sure which model box. Check out their website and you may get some more info. I can also say this, having recently bought one of their V-35 racks, they are really easy to work with, very resonsive and I love the rack. Even if you don't see the box you are looking for, it would probably be worth an e-mail to see if they can make it work somehow.

Make an inquiry to www.herpcages.com. They made some racks for me using the older Sterilite 28qt box. This was about 5 or so years ago. Point is, they may still have the measurements to program their cutting machine to make you some.

The material is high density polystyrene. Excellent properties, and you run the heat tape through the shelves, so the shelf acts as a heat mass, and the box doesn't slide over the heat tape.

The racks come in heights of 3 slots, and you bolt them together with spacers to make a 7-slot rack. All hardware provided. Their tolerances are so exact it will blow your mind.

Try Animal Plastics. They have a good selection of racks for different brands of tubs, specifically Sterlite. They build a really quality rack and their customer service is unbeatable. All companies should take lessons from these guys about customer care and service. I have 2 racks from them now. After 11 months the heat cable on 1 wnt on the fritz and they immediately replaced it for free, no questions asked.
