I'm 31.

I got back into snakes a little over 2 years ago when I got my current pair of BRB's.

However if you don't count the break I took from herping I started keeping snakes/lizards/turtles when I was arround 10 years old so 21 years ago.

Been awhile but couldn't stay away forever.

Sean.

I'm 20, 21 in February. I've been keeping snakes all my life. When I was little I used to catch snakes in my back yard and keep them. I've also had other reptiles and amphibians throughout the years. I got my CRB last fall and I've been on this forum for about six months now.

I just turned 29 few days ago and have been keeping snakes since I was 9-10 and lucky for me my parents allowed me to have reptiles all my life and my first was a pet corn snake that got let go in the woods , (he got loose and was stepped on My first reptile was a Green Iguana when I was around 8.. So I have been keeping reptiles for 20 years..

Not including the countless racer, rats, corns that I used to catch as a child and the occasional copperhead when I was in my teens. I caught just about every animal, insect or arachnid I could find and housed and feed them, then few days later let them go..

When I turned 15 I got my first Boa and my collection has grown since...

I'll be 22 december 13th (d@*n i feel old to be only 21, geuss it's the rheumatism, lol.) I've only kept my own snakes long term (ie not catch, keep for a few days then release) for a little over a year. but i have been catching and helping care care snakes and many other herps since i was about 7 or so. so i guess that could make it 14 years technically (not counting the time living with my mom and stepdad [he hates snakes])

I am 25... have also been keeping snakes my whole life...i had a little break for a while after my WC gopher snake got out and decided to crawl down the garbage disposal. You can imagine the rest of the story .....mom goes to do the dishes......etc.

I was not allowed to bring any more snakes home for a few years.
Thankfully i married a very understanding wife and am able to make up for those years i went with out....

wvaherp Oct 30, 2007 08:53 PM

the funny thing is, my mom comes over and holds my snakes and checks them out. she thinks the rainbows are really pretty (she used to manage a pet store with my dad back in the 80's.) it's just that my stepdad wouldn't let me have one in the house. he was freaked out enough that we had an eastern king living under the house. he always said i should have killed it, lol. i had to teach him that a kingsnake is a really good snake to have living under your house. we never once saw a copperhead or timber rattler in our yard, yet 1.5mi away our freind found both in his FINISHED basement within 1 week. not a good situation for him either, his son was four and thought the copperhead was a toy. luckily he didn't get bitten.

I am 37 and have had rainbows for about 7 months. I always caught and kept snakes as a kid and just got into it as an adult just over a year ago. I have a very supportive wife that helps with the snakes, so I am lucky.

I'm 39. I feel about 34 most days, Some days 45. Most of the time I act like I'm in my early 20's

I've always caught snakes as a kid. I had a corn for awhile several years ago. That didn't last for long. I started semi seriously field herping almost two years ago and really got back into pet snakes as a result. Had mine about 2 1/2 years now.

Lookin foward to getting another BRB here soon.

Next wednesday I will be 55. I had my first litter of baby Gartersnakes in 1964. I have been crazy about herpetoculture every since. I have caught or kept over a hundred different species and subspecies and have had several dozen different species and subspecies reproduce. Every new litter is like opening Christmas presents but better. I had my first Colombian Rainbow Boa in 1969. My brother and I were commercially hunting snakes back then and got the CRB in a trade. We kept it several months and sold it. I did not get another Rainbow Boa until 1989 when I caught a CRB in Panama. I got my first BRB in 1991. My first litters of Rainbow Boas were BRBs and CRBs and Guayanans in 1993. I had a collection of Burms and various Boa Constrictors and got rid of all them to make room for more Rainbow Boas.

I'm 25 and have been keeping snakes for not quite 5 years, mostly colubrids. BRBs were always my dream snake, and after years of research and preparation, I bought my first in early March of this year.
