Mouth breathing?

FittleLoot Oct 30, 2007 07:57 PM

My baby mali is periodically opening his mouth, sticking his tongue up, and pulsating his neck very quickly.
He's breathing fine the rest of the time, and is running around exploring and being cute and glass dancing.
But occassionally (i've only noticed him doing it in his basking spot, which is at a surface temp of 129.) he starts doing the 'panting' thing.
This is worrying me.

Is he just being threatening (I'm sitting next to the cage getting him used to me being aorund), or is something quite wrong?

We were at the vet for a potential resp. infection before. We went through a series of shots. We juuust finished them.

that is called VENTING. part of thermoregulating. cooling off by vaporization.is norml.is OK and good too. later mang.

Thankyou! Good!
That means that little foot is doing better. Yay!

CMarin Oct 30, 2007 09:48 PM

well i hope so, but it is norml to vent. but keep watching(for fluid or constant open mouth). and listening(for wheezing). norml behavior doesn't mean 100% recovery. not to bust your bubble(bad pun not intended), but don't let your guard down just because little foot is venting. or because some weirdo online says it's ok,man. venting should really only occur on the hot side of things. Not All Day. but venting is a normal thing while basking.sorry-should've said that to begin with.

Well, yeah, he's only doing it on his basking rock, and only for short amounts of time.

And i won't not watch him. I'm not that dumb. I love my littlefoot. I'd do just about anything for him. I sit in his room for about five ours a day. I do most of my homework watching him. He's my precious.
