WOW, big earthquake in CA......

rainbowsrus Oct 30, 2007 10:14 PM

Just hit 5 or ten minutes ago. One of the biggest I've ever felt, not on the news yet. All my cages and critters fared fine, no open cages, nothing fell over. 8:04 PM 5.6 epicenter was about 15 miles away. Was a fun ride!!!

the closest they have been and forgive me but is San Jose near the San Andreas fault line by an chance and what is the strongest one you felt?

Well usually they are further away, the largest I've felt was the loma prieta earthquake at 7.1 but was epicentered many miles away so felt less of it. This one at 5.6 was geographically almost right underneath us and wow it felt strong. Sharp shaking lasting a good 20 seconds followed by a severe roll that only lasted a few seconds.

Thanks Mike, looks like your set made it out just in time!!!

Funny though, hindsight, Monday had what would be called earthquake weather. Something definitely out of the norm, had a big ol thunderstorm. Not common for our area at all!!!

Yeah the kids at my work (we still had five being tutored at the time) were in the biggest earth quake of their lives to date. Fortunately they were all very good about it, but I can only imagine the panic had more kids been around. What did your girls think Dave?
