ive moved my male suri into a cage with aspen shavings and im wondering if they could have any effect on his health, his eyes went blue so im sure he is shedding but i just want to make sure

Plenty of people use aspen shavings with no problems. Just watch out if there's a lot of dust in the shavings, that might pose a problem.
I personally don't use them any more because one of my snakes got a splinter stuck near his nose, and now use kraft paper and newspaper for my big cages, and Carefresh (for my smaller cages), but it is a very common substrate.
