Double Het Ghosts...on Halloween!

RG Oct 31, 2007 08:27 AM

These guys started piping a couple days ago...and all but one are out as of this morning. They are all semi-tangerines and they are HUGE (guessing over 14 inches).

It took 81-82 days for these guys to hatch out which was due to me dropping the incubation temps. Hopefully, they are all female, so I can pair them up with my excess triple het males!

Speaking of the triple hets...when I compare the two...these double het Ghosts are a shade darker...they really are jet black.

I only have one more clutch left to hatch...and I'm hoping for Hybinos.

Very nice man. What temps did you incubate at? 81 days is a long time!

I incubated my last clutch at 81F and they took 66 days to hatch so I am guessing you incubated at 78 or 79F?

Well my incubation temps fluctuate between 74-79...the drop happens at night...because I like to sleep cold (keep the house at 71)!

Here's a pic of my incubation chamber below.

Very interesting... definitely different than most folks incubate hondurans. Whatever works eh

because I thought I maybe cooking the hondos a little too hot (81-83)...and thought it might be causing some deformities.

Also, when you look at how snakes lay their eggs in the wild, underground....the temps are fairly cool, so I tried to reproduce those conditions.
