Some West Indian boa pics

prprjp Oct 31, 2007 11:33 AM

Just a couple of pics of some West Indian Epicrates. The two top photos are yearling Berry Island boas and the lower pic is one of my adult male Ford's boas.

Anyone else out there with some of the West Indian Epicrates? Let's see some pics if you got 'em!

Regards, Ryan

Don't see too many ford's these days. Occasionally you'll find them on the classifieds.

Glad you liked them, Ryan

Very cool...all of them The gracilis pic - do you know which subspecies or locale it came from? The ones I used to keep were quite a bit darker.

Thats E. g. gracilis from Limbe in N. Haiti. I've collected E. g. hapalus in the past but they are only found in the Tiburon Peninsular and in a small area in the S.W. D.R. You're right on the i.d. All the best....TC

I've never seen one of those before. It is a very interesting,
good-looking boa. What are they like?

Heres a pic of one of my Fords Boas. They are endemic to Hispanola and reach a length of 2-3'. Small ones feed exclusively on ectothermic prey but adults readily eat mice...TC

How often are Ford's available?

Thanks, they are easy enough once switched over to mice. I just wish there were more people keeping and breeding them
